Never Kiss A Naughty Nanny begins May 25th

The Tillamook Association for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to announce the cast for the upcoming summer farce, “Never Kiss A Naughty Nanny” written by Michael Parker and directed by Chris Chiola. This production stars Garon Baker, Bill Briot, Lora Ressler, Barbi Waggerby, Robert Kratz, Karen Martin, Ben Ruderman and Wally Nelson.
Mr. Broadbent, a developer and builder, has created “the house of the future”. He has filled it with many gadgets including a personal ion chamber, self-cleaning bathroom and central disposal system. The house won’t sell, probably because most of the innovations of the future fail to work properly. Prospective buyers are invited to spend the night and get wined and dined. Broadbent bribes two of his employees to pose as renters to demonstrate how everything works. He even has a maintenance man, Ed Cott, on hand to make repairs as things go wrong. Someone masquerades as “the nanny” to throw off the buyers. When a surprise visitor arrives, it is all anyone can do to keep the house under control.
The hilarity begins on May 25th at 7pm with a champagne gala and the show runs through June 9th. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7pm. Sunday matinees begin at 2pm. Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain.

Acting/Scene Study Class
The Tillamook Association for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to offer an acting/scene study class led by George Dzundza at The Barn Community Playhouse located on the corner of 12th and Ivy in Tillamook. Each 3-hour class will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. every Sunday. There will be a $5 donation to TAPA for each three-hour class; students only pay for the classes they attend. The donations will be tax deductible and all proceeds go directly to TAPA. Students must be at least 18 years of age due to the potential of adult subject matter.
Students will be asked to perform prepared scenes in the class. They will be instructed on how to elevate their performances and acquire the tools of a basic acting technique. They will be able to use that technique in any future performances. Work on a variety of guided scenes and experiences will sharpen their acting skills. Everyone performs. Students will learn by doing, but they will also learn by watching how their fellow students grow and progress. The hope is to produce dedicated, independent and confident theater people.
Mr. Dzundza has been a professional actor and director for over 45 years. During that time, the list of artists he has worked with includes: Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Denzel Washington, Demi Moore, Gene Hackman, Clint Eastwood, Meryl Streep, Viggo Mortensen, Sharon Stone, Michael Douglas, Anthony Hopkins, and F. Murray Abraham, to name a few. Mr. Dzundza is donating his time and receives no pay for these classes.
Students wanting to participate should contact Mary Hanthorn by phone or email at (503) 842-5566, (503) 801-0759 or mhanthorn@earthlink.net.

Wait Until Dark is a story about the many sides of darkness. The darkness of the mind of a killer, the darkness that comes from being physically blind, the darkness of dangers unseen and the simple darkness that occurs with the flip of a switch.
This thriller, directed by TAPA veteran Dan Phillips, focuses on the recently blinded woman Susy, whose whole world has become dark as the result of a recent accident. Happily married to Sam, her photographer husband, both are unaware that he has unwittingly brought a doll filled with heroin into their home. With Sam away on a photo shoot, Susy is left home alone to meet and greet Mr. Harry Roat and his two henchmen Mike Talman and Sgt. Carlino, who connive their way into her home by pretending to be someone they’re not. With the aid of her precocious neighbor Gloria, who has taken the doll for herself, Susy eventually realizes that no one is who they say they are and that her life is in imminent danger. As we watch Susy struggle to survive, she uses the only weapon she has against the men and we join her on the roller coaster ride of her life where all of us eventually plunge into the darkness together.
This show is not recommended for younger children.
